Confirmation/First Holy Communion
“The effect of Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit like that at Pentecost. This outpouring impresses on the soul an indelible character and produces a growth in the grace of Baptism. It roots the person more deeply in divine Sonship, binds him more firmly to Christ and to the Church and reinvigorates the gifts of the Holy Spirit in his soul.”
The Diocese of Phoenix now follows the Restored Order Model for Confirmation and prepares children for both the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation at the same time.
Confirmation/First Holy Communion preparation is done through the Religious Formation Programs here at St. Francis Xavier. You can register for these programs at the parish office or online.
- Children in second through fifth grade should be enrolled in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
- Children in sixth through eighth grade should be enrolled in EDGE.
- High School students should be enrolled in Life Teen.
Preparation for the Sacraments is a two year process.
“I am created to do or to be something for which no one else is created: I have a place in God’s counsels, in God’s world, which no one else has. Whether I be rich or poor, despised or esteemed by man, God knows me and calls me by my name.”
