Society of St. Vincent de Paul
This charity provides food, limited medical assistance, showers, clothing, throughout the Phoenix Metropolitan area. This extensive help is provided to the homeless and poor families.
Presently, more than 3,500 hundred meals per day are served in the dining areas of the city.In addition, volunteers of the St. Vincent’s conference of this parish deliver food boxes and bags to families residing in this parish (currently, between 50 to 72 families each week.) We also give vouchers to clients to secure essential furniture; and subject to sever cash limitations, we try to assist in payment of rent, utility bills and the purchase of medicines.Since we are required to go in “twos” on home visits, we are often very much in need of additional volunteers to be regular members.
Would you like to volunteer with us? The Parish Center will be happy to put you in contact with a member for more information; or simply come to a conference meeting held most every Monday evening at 7:00 PM in the Ignation Spirituality Center. The SVDP Society takes a collection every 5th Sunday of the Month after all the weekend Masses.
Poor Boxes
All parishioners - new and old - are reminded that "poor boxes" are located in the walls of the south and east vestibules. All money placed in these boxes augment the St Vincent de Paul Fifth Sunday Collection. This important charity relies heavily upon the poor boxes to help provide funds for food for the poor. We in the St Frances Xavier Conference depend on these funds to continue providing food for the poor. God bless you! And thank you for your continued support.
